Dreamcatcher 03:07
I was drifting into slumber I was drifting across the sea As the captain of a journey We were searching for the unseen All we discovered was a fierce storm We capsized and we disappeared Into the bottom of long lost treasures I kissed a mermaid for a breath of air But I was poisoned by her beauty Her eyes shined with the sparkling pearls I tried to give her my love as water rushed in my lungs So I said goodbye to the precious girl Then I awoke in a sweat With the memory of one swimming in my head The charm over my bed did more than just catch A frightful dream in its web I was hiking the Himalayas On a trail most picturesque When I was careless with my footing I stepped too close and I slipped off the edge I fell down into a valley Populated by rocks and boulders As I was inches away from crushing my face I grew a pair of wings from my shoulders They carried me safely above Until I was burnt up by the sun The charm over my bed did more than just catch A frightful dream in its web Memos were sent In care of my subconsciousness Nightmares hastening for an awakening Trapped in the leather web of my dreamcatcher

Broken Wings 04:03
When the dust settled I disturbed it with my feet While it was accidental I’m still the culprit so to speak The impact of my actions Created a drift It was detrimental, hell it was continental The way I see it I’m bleeding from the sorrows Cut from the night before I touch a rag to the metal Polish the halo that I wore I’m reaching for the handle While the bags under my eyes Emit the colour of a candle Burning a fragrance to disguise The reasons I want to hide From the morning light They say it’ll do me so good To let the promise shine upon my open wounds If you’re a bird with broken wings Why call out for help when you can sing? The east radiates under an endless ceiling I settle into the comfort of the morning breathing The calm and steady rhythm brings me to ease Relinquishing my flaws, slowly I begin to see Our lives are simply threads of wool Tightly bound upon a spool The common fears that we grow from Are the stories being spun I hear the echoes of my own Narratives that are being told in a forgiven tone Burnt out like a motel sign Dated like the paintings hanging on the walls inside If you’re a bird with broken wings Why call out for help when you can sing?

Cherry Pie 02:11
Just the other day My baby disappeared She left unknowing No goodbyes did I hear I reckon she was kidnapped From the window sill I don’t know if she’s coming back I am waiting still When’s my Cherry Pie When’s my sweet When’s my Cherry Pie Coming home to me? Did she find another Is that why she fleed? Did she find another Someone better than me? These are the questions I ask every day I’m hungry for the answers Left with crumbs upon my plate When’s my Cherry Pie When’s my sweet When’s my Cherry Pie Coming home to me? It was in the springtime When the daisies bloom That’s when I saw Cherry Pie With her thieving groom A sour little smile She bid me farewell She ran off with Billy Boy And rang the wedding bells So long Cherry Pie So long sweet So long Cherry Pie No more of you I’ll see

Darling take my hand And sway this way to me I need you close More than you’ll every know Here on the kitchen floor Leave the dirty dishes Soaking in the sink We’ll clean them when we can For now I need your dance Across the kitchen floor I’ll turn up the stereo After I clear my throat I’ll sing you a song A foxtrot than a waltz Across the kitchen floor Place your head of my shoulder And let the cadence take ahold There’s nowhere else we need to be Just shuffling our bare feet Across the kitchen floor Chorus Can’t you see, honey, everything we need Is here with us to write our own secret recipe Just you and I, forget the world outside Flash me a portrait of your picture-perfect smile As we shine the surface of this hardwood tiles You know our footsteps will have led To the corner of the bed, by song end I never know the right moves to make But that’s okay neither do you We’ll make them up as we go Stepping on each others’ toes Across the kitchen floor Watch the cat under the table He’s staging the attack To pounce on the rogue Fabrics of your dress that flows Across the kitchen floor And the whistling kettle Is singing from the stove A tune to invite A melody to last the night Across the kitchen floor So just give me a sign And I will draw the blinds Behind them we will stay Until you are swept away Across the kitchen floor Chorus

Medicine Bag 05:49
In a leather pouch, I see the sun Rising from the East High above the prairies stretching As far as the hawk eye sees A painted sign, on the elevator side Reads a name that was penned in 1905 A vision drifts in the endless blue sky Where the pioneers once dreamed In a medicine bag, I carry what is dear to me Items from the place where the wheat fields grow Where the wild rose, she dances As the four strong winds blow Innocent river playfully cuts Through the southern plains Weaving like a finger tracing the scar Branded beneath the mane The sweetgrass bent The fierce wind rattled The tragic day Blood stained the saddle Now hooves trot along In the mid-day sun Black stetsons worn In memoriam In a medicine bag, I carry what is dear to me Items from the place where the buckskins roam Where the wild rose, she dances As the four strong winds blow A mighty fortress standing guard Upon the western pass With a stone trail of tales and a face of patience Only Mother Earth has When covered by a blanket Of snow in the winter We long for the breath Of her warming whispers And if you listen carefully You might hear her speak Of the grizzlies stepping from Their Rocky Mountain peaks In a medicine bag, I carry what is dear to me Items from the place where the foothills roll Where the wild rose, she dances As the four strong winds blow The steady heartbeat of a pump-jack Set a pace for the course The noble woodland bison turns To face the Arctic North Where threads of coloured beads Twist in the midnight breeze A sight very few can rival Over Labrador tea Torches of the Spirits gleam To welcome the new arrivals In a medicine bag, I carry what is dear to me Items from the place that the Dene know Where the wild rose, she dances As the four strong winds blow When the healing winds cease to blow I unpack the medicine that makes me whole In a medicine bag, I carry what is dear to me Items from the place where my roots were sewn The wild rose, she dances As the four strong winds blow
